Prime Surf Spots local to The Jungle House
Click here for surf spots throughout the country offered through our premium tour packages!Located in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, My Costa Trip's “The Jungle House” has the main surf break right outside its backyard!!! Located on the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula, this area of Costa Rica benefits from both the frequent south swells that hit the coast during the wet season (April – November), as well as the north swells and offshore "Papagayo" winds during the dry season (mid November –early April). Water and air temperatures are warm year round. Not only are the waves great, but the tropical scenery must be seen to be believed. Magnificent sunsets are common, an added benefit as you close out your evening session.

Beach Break with A-Frame peaks. You will probably log most of your water time at the beach break since, not only is it right outside our backyard, but many say it is the most consistent and well formed beach break in all of Costa Rica. Small river mouths (no crocs) line the shore and create a several mile long stretch of A-Frame peaks that go from fast and hollow one day, to fun and playful the next. This beach is also good for beginners since they can safely ride the reform waves that break close to shore.

Beach Break with A-Frame peaks. Most people mistakenly name this break Mal Pais. This is the main beach at the crossroads, right as you arrive at the coast coming from the ferry. A few minute walk to the south of The Jungle House, this beach is generally a mellower wave and not as hollow as Santa Teresa. Fun A-Frame peaks go on for several miles.

Santa Teresa
Hollow Right Reef Break that is very consistent. Long, right barrels await you just a few minutes walk from The Jungle House.

This undisclosed left reef break is good on large south swells. The right conditions produce a genuine barrel-fest.

This undisclosed left point break is good on large south swells. The break starts by a large rocky outcropping, and then continues into a sandy cove. A glance towards shore reveals the beautiful and rugged coastline typical of this area of Costa Rica.

Left and Right Points and Beach break. Hermosa is a beach that offers unspoiled, spectacular scenery, and a great spot to just get away and get in tune with nature. It is not crowded and is really fun during the right conditions

Left Reef Break. Manzanillo, also off the beaten path, offers a reef that is about a half mile offshore and can hold a big swell.

Right and Left Point Breaks. Fun and playful, these right and left points work best on large swells. This is close to the entrance of the Cabo Blanco Natural reserve, and also the very unique cemetery island that you can walk to at low tide. It is the only village in Costa Rica to have the town cemetery located on an otherwise uninhabited island.

If desired, we can take you to different reef and point breaks scattered along the coast.
